Hello Lovelies,
Masks were the first bona fide “skincare” product I ever used. I have been a consistent masker since the age of eleven when I started with the drugstore classic Queen Helene’s Mint Julep Mask. Don’t judge. It started as a weekly treat for the occasional breakout and now as an adult woman who is not playing any games and taking no prisoners when it comes to anti-aging, it is a key part of my daily skincare routine. It’s also my favorite part of my routine because it’s pampering, and it gives my skin an instant dose of hydration and nourishment. I recently tried some new masks I’m obsessed with and I’m so excited to share some tips on how to make the most of your favorite mask.
When you are about to use a face mask be sure to do the following:
- Always start with a clean, freshly washed face
- To help your mask work more efficiently, be sure to exfoliate prior to mask application. When you remove surface debris and dead skin cells your hydrating mask will penetrate better and your clarifying masks will be withdraw impurities even better.
- I also love to double mask! I start with a clarifying mask, then follow with a hydrating mask to balance and soothe my skin. You can follow with your serum and moisturizer as usual.
Modeling Rubber Masks: The Next Level of Masking!
Modeling Rubber Masks are the next fantastic step after sheet masks. This type of mask is used in top Korean spas, and they are packed with skin-friendly nutrients. They are usually mixed from scratch by an esthetician but now you can experience their extensive benefits in the beauty and comfort of your own bathroom. I recently ordered mine from GlowRecipe.com for only six dollars each!
Lindsay Modeling Rubber Mask (Collagen)
I ordered two different Lindsay Modeling Rubber Masks, Calendula and Collagen. The masks come in a powder form in adorable packaging that looks like instant macaroni and cheese. You add water to activate the product. I advise adding only a little bit of water at a time in order to get the mask to an easy-to-spread consistency. It comes with a small plastic spatula for easy mixing. The thick texture is designed to allow the ingredients to absorb without evaporating. Cool, right?
I applied a generous amount of product on the perimeter of my face to make the peel off process easier, applied the remaining amount of product on the rest of my face, and then started working my way towards to my t-zone. Calendula, also known as Marigold, is anti-inflammatory and provides antioxidants. This mask also serves a healthy dose of hydration, detoxifies, and calms the skin. It has an ingredient called Alginate, which is derived from Sea Kelp and is what turns into a gel with water. After ten minutes, I was able to easily peel off the mask. My skin felt so soft, fresh, and smooth. And thanks to a blend of clay and botanicals I could easily see where the impurities got pulled out!
Two days later I tried the Collagen Modeling Mask. I love how hydrating it was, and so I will definitely be re-ordering both of these products. If you really love your sheet masks (and I know you do) you can still incorporate these into your routine. I still love doing my sheet masks two to three times a week to keep my hydration consistent, but I use the modeling masks weekly as a more intense treatment.
