Hello Lovelies,
I absolutely love using facial oils. Sometimes the word “oil” seems to have such a bad reputation. It’s important to keep in mind that not all oils will cause pimples or clog your pores. I feel that a lot of people are missing out on the amazing benefits that natural oils can deliver. In fact even if you have combination to oily skin, the right facial oil can actually help to mollify your oil production, moisturize without feeling greasy or heavy, and balance your skin. This is the type of product that you can use daily or just as needed. Here are my top three reasons why you should give peace, love, and a facial oil a chance.
Reason No. 1: Facial Oils are a “Triple Threat”
Facial Oils are usually derived from natural ingredients and are what I like to call The Triple Threat A-Team: They are anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, and some of them also have antibacterial properties as well. I recently had the opportunity to try the new Skyn Iceland Arctic Face Oil. Skyn Iceland has always been one of my favorite brands for years. The products are incredibly soothing and nourishing, and always deliver great results. This product is no exception! When you read the box it only contains three ingredients: Camelina Oil, Sunflower Seed Oil, and Vitamin E (Tocopherol). It is paraben-free, fragrance-free, petroleum free, mineral oil free, synthetic dye free, 100% vegetarian, allergy tested, and gluten free. It is excellent for all skin types including even the most sensitive.
Camelina Oil is anti-inflammatory and protects the skin. Your skin will be calm and happy, and has the right ingredient to fight off free radicals that contribute to aging. The product contains 99.9% Camelina Oil to be exact, which provides nine essential fatty acids that are incredibly nourishing and reparative for the skin. In addition to hydration and radiance, it will also address fine lines and wrinkles.
Whenever I try a new product I don’t use anything else with it so I can see how my skin reacts to it. The first time I used it I removed all my makeup, washed my face, used my face scrub, and then used three to four drops all over my face and neck. When I woke up the next morning, my first thought was: “Why does my skin feel like I’m three years old?” I could not believe how smooth and plump my skin felt. I also noticed my skin looked more radiant. Glowy is always good my friends. It also helped the dry, itchy patches on my forehead caused by my eczema.
Reason #2: Your other skincare products will work more efficiently!
You can use the Arctic Face Oil by itself or under a moisturizer. The first few times I used it was at night alone, but then I started combining it with my moisturizer in the daytime and there was a noticeable difference. My cream absorbed better and I used slightly less product. Don’t worry about layering because the product is so light it won’t feel as if you have anything sitting on your face. The oil will absorb quickly and then pull in your moisturizer for better absorption. When layering products be sure to apply thinnest to thickest. In the morning I use it after my Vitamin C serum. For example, my serum is very thin, almost watery, so that is applied first, then I press my Arctic Face Oil into my skin, and finish with SPF 47 and makeup.
Reason #3: It will improve your makeup application.
I have recently experimented with using a drop or two as part of my makeup application. I used three drops on my Beauty Blender and then blended out my under-eye concealer. This product can be used around the eye area, and my concealer lasted longer because of the added hydration. I also added a few drops to my foundation brush, the Sephora Pro Domed Stippling Brush #41, and then I blend my Kevyn Aucoin foundation. Makeup always lays better on hydrated skin so as this product improves the condition of your skin, your makeup will look better as well.
As the weather gets warmer, I would recommend using it alone as your daily moisturizer or just as needed when your skin needs added hydration.
