Hello Lovelies,
It’s time to get cheeky. I don’t remember the last time I left the house without a swish of color on my cheeks. Blush is a makeup product that brightens your face, and helps to balance your eye makeup and lip color. Some of my favorite brands that have awesome shades that work well for deeper skintones are Nars, Becca Cosmetics, and Tarte.
The Tools:
In order to get the best application possible make sure you use an angled blush brush. A powder brush will distribute too much product on the face. I love using the MAC 168 brush to apply my blush. This is the brush I have been using everyday for over a year and I love it. I have washed it several times and it has not shed at all. A brush that is specifically for a cheek product will have a smaller head and more compact bristles because you are working a smaller area of the face.
The Application:
A “blush face” is a happy smile so you can see the shape of your cheek. When applying blush I always tell my clients to “pull back”. Meaning, blend your color out towards the temple. Too much blush in the center of the face can look clownish and unnatural.
The Products:
1. Nars Dual Intensity Blush in Panic.
This product has taken blush to a whole new level. It is a blush duo that is used wet or dry. The pigment is intense, long-wearing, and gorgeous. I used the product dry the first time I tried it. Sometimes I blend the two colors together, and sometimes I like to apply the deeper shade first then use the lighter shade on top as a highlighter. In order to try it out wet, I lightly sprayed my brush with water and then tapped the brush into the product. This made the color payoff even more intense. With this product you only need a light amount of product. If you have a medium to deep skin tone I also suggest trying out the color Adoration in the dual-intensity range. Adoration is slightly softer and more pink.
2. Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Brushed Copper.
Where do I begin? This product is like a little piece of heaven. The color is a warm copper with yummy rose-gold tones that gives a heavenly glow to the skin. I use it alone or on top of another blush to give a more glamorous look. This is a limited edition product from Becca Cosmetics so order it online as soon as you finish reading this post.
3. Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush in Dollface.
I have been wearing this soft girly pink since it first hit the shelves of Sephora. I have so many pink lipsticks and could never find a blush to compliment them until Tarte Cosmetics made this color. This is a good option if you like a natural looking cheek color or you tend to do more with your eyes and lips so you need a softer blush to balance the face. This product really does last twelve hours so if you have oily skin you will love it.
If you decide to try out any of these products please let me know, and I would also love to hear what my readers love to use for their favorite blushes!
xoxo,
Lily
