Awesome Shampoos For Curly, Kinky, Natural, and Relaxed Hair.

Hello Lovelies,

In this post I will be sharing some of my favorite shampoos for curly hair. If you have curly hair, kinky hair, natural hair, or you are transitioning from relaxed hair back to your natural hair texture, finding the right shampoo is a challenging. You want to feel clean, but if you are “squeaky” clean then your hair and scalp are going to feel dry.  Curly hair is usually lacking in the moisture department.  If your hair falls into one of the category types I just mentioned, you need a shampoo packed with hydrating ingredients and no sulfate-free.   Sulfates are synthetic detergents and they can over-strip curly hair of its moisture so double-check the labels your shampoo.  I am lucky enough to have a Ricky’s NYC beauty store in my neighborhood so I have access to a lot of different hair care brands.  If you don’t have one near you then you can buy these products online.

1. Carol’s Daughter Monoi (Repairing) Sulfate-Free shampoo, $20, 8.5oz

Carol’s Daughter is one my favorite hair care brands. The brand uses nourishing ingredients, addresses many hair concerns, and every product smells amazing.  If you have curly, kinky, relaxed, or natural hair this brand has many amazing products that your hair will thank you for bringing home.

I remember when the Monoi line first hit the shelves.  I had only tried one other Carol’s Daughter product and decided to try out the Monoi because it helps with breakage. On the bottle it claims to reduces breakage by 96% after one use.   I fell in love with the product after the first use.  It cleanses with Coconut Surfactant which is a naturally derived surfactant that is gentle on hair, and it hydrates using Monoi oil.  Monoi oil is made by soaking the petals of Tahitian Gardenias (aka Tiare Flowers) in coconut oil.  Pretty cool right?

I noticed my scalp felt clean but not tight or dry.  My hair had less tangles and felt soft BEFORE I put in my conditioner.  Because I have very dry curly hair and a dry scalp I only wash my hair once a week.  Washing your hair less often can actually be better for your hair because you aren’t wash away its natural moisture.  The Monoi shampoo is also a great choice if you have dry, curly, AND color-treated hair.

When I don’t have my Monoi Shampoo I love using this product.  It is sulfate-free, silicone-free, and paraben-free.  I love the fact that it uses Rosemary and Witch Hazel to purify for happy scalp benefits.  It also uses coconut oil and argan oil to nourish.  If you are in the gym often and feel like you need to wash your hair more often because of that then I would recommend this product for my dry/curly/natural readers. If you just like to wash your hair two or more times a week then this is a good option because it is hydrating, gently, and effective.  It has a very creamy texture so it also helps with detangling.  If you are transitioning from relaxed hair to natural hair then your hair is in a delicate state so this is a good product to add to your routine.
