My Nude Summer – Let’s Talk About The Lingerie Brand That Changed My Life – Nubian Skin.

Hello My Lovelies,

Summer is absolutely my favorite season of the year. It is a glorious combination of open-toed shoes, funky sundresses, magical sunsets, long afternoons on the beach, denim shorts, gel moisturizers, and 8pm sunsets. As the temperatures increase, the amount of skin exposes increases proportionally. Yes, it’s time to update your skincare and makeup routine, but it’s also time to update your wardrobe for summer.

Creating a summer wardrobe that can easily go from day to night, and that can also be dressed up or down depending on if you are having a weekend brunch or a weekend wedding can be much easier than you think. It all starts with easy basic pieces with which you can build a flexible look. My new easy basic to build on is nude bodysuits.

I would describe my summer style as fun, sexy, and chic. My daily wardrobe is usually dresses, and I have a tendency to style myself quickly in threes: Dress-Cardigan-Heels. I recently rediscovered the joy of wearing skirts once more. I had stopped wearing skirts as often I would have liked because shopping for seperates, specifically tops and blouses, or whatever you want to call them, can be a sisyphean task if you are bigger than D-cup. And because of my long torso (I’m 5’7’) trying to tuck in a shirt is just a waste of the finite amount of time we are given on this earth. I decided to give bodysuits a chance thanks to the lingerie brand that changed my life, Nubian skin. I discovered this brand by chance as I was searching for lingerie for my skintone.

I never put foundation on without primer because primer helps improve the wear and look of makeup. Having appropriate lingerie for the outfit you are dying to wear is the primer that will improve the look, feel, and wear of your outfit. To put it bluntly, I am not “beige”. I’m a brown girl shopping in a “nude beige” world of lingerie. Not even close to what I need.

Nubian Skin is a British lingerie brand created by Ade Hassan, that makes gorgeous nude lingerie in shades that are brown girl friendly, ranging from soft Cafe Au Lait to a rich Berry. There site is easy and fun to shop with an impressive range of hosiery, bras, panties, slips, bodysuits, and even shoes! The bras now go up to a 40G, and the price point is on track with speciality lingerie but is very affordable and excellent quality. The brand makes it easy to find your shade with their shade guide that corresponds to popular foundations.

My first purchase was a bodysuit in size Large in the color Berry. I choose the deepest shade because it is summer so I am a little darker than usual. The large was a tiny bit big on me, even though I am currently between and a size eight and a size ten in dresses. So if you think you are between sizes then go a size down because they are stretchy. I would also recommended having more than one shade depending on the time of year.

For a brand to say, “ I see you!” OR “we see you and you are beautiful, and your needs matter” is the much needed acknowledgement of the beauty of women of color that is still lacking in luxury beauty and fashion. Bodysuits go with skirts, great under blazers, help hide visible pantylines, and pretty much work with everything all year round. And they can be easily and undetectably recycled.
