When, How, and Why You Need To Use A Protein Mask For Your Hair.

Hello Lovelies,

Using a hair mask is a key part of a healthy hair routine. Your regular daily conditioner isn’t always enough. This is especially true for curly or textured hair. Intensive treatments help to strengthen hair, restore shine, replenish moisture, and improve manageability. Everyone can benefit from a good hydrating mask, but what if I told you about a different type of mask that you should include in your hair routine that could help give you stronger hair and less breakage. It’s time to talk about protein treatments.

What is a protein treatment and Why do you need it?

Your hair is made up of 91 percent protein! A protein treatment helps to rebuild hair that has been damaged by excessive heat styling, chemical processes such as coloring or relaxing, and environmental stress.  Essentially you are rebuilding the foundation of your hair. It’s a treatment that would be used in addition to your tried and true hydrating mask. A combination of moisture and protein will help keep hair healthier and more manageable by strengthening the hair shaft, reducing breakage, and helping all your other hair products work more effectively.

The Madame C.J.Walker Wonderful Pre-Wash Treatment

An amazing new brand has hit the shelves of Sephora that celebrates the beautiful legacy of Madame C.J. Walker.  Madame Walker was the first black female millionaire in America thanks to her line of hair care products specifically for African-American hair.  I consider her the original Estee Lauder, and she is one of my personal beauty heroes.  In 1905 Madame Walker began losing her hair and tried finding a treatment for her condition.  She created products at home that eventually became an extremely successful business. She traveled all over the country, as well as the Caribbean and Latin America promoting her products.   In 1908, she moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania  and opened a factory and a beauty school. In 1910 she transferred her base of operations to Indianapolis and her empire continued to grow.  She used her business to empower black women economically in a time when their opportunities for education and economic independence were extremely limited.  In addition to her success as an entrepreneur she was also a philanthropist and civil rights activist.  Madame Walker created educational scholarships, actively supported the NAACP, and the National Conference on Lynching. She eventually became a New Yorker and settled in a townhouse in Harlem.  Madam C.J. Walker died of hypertension on May 25, 1919, at the age of 51. She was buried at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Bronx, New York.

The Madam C.J. Walker Beauty Culture product line embodies her philosophy of healthy natural hair, and uses nourishing ingredients to give you the happiest hair possible. I have been looking for a protein treatment to add to my hair regimen for a few months. I have tried a couple other protein products but I didn’t see any improvement in my hair.  All that has changed thanks to this magical purple tube.  The Wonderful Pre-Wash Protein Treatment lives up to its name of being a dream come true.  It is applied prior to shampoo and is left on the hair for fifteen minutes. You would alternate this product with your hydrating mask. So I use it every other week.   What I loved most about this product was the fact that I immediately noticed less breakage after washing, my hair was smoother and easier to detangle, and it smells amazing. This formula is great for all hair types.  I have been using it consistently for over a month and I am very happy with the results
