Hello Lovelies,
Exfoliation is absolutely key to maintaining beautiful smooth skin. I recently started making my own scrubs and it has been so much fun experimenting with natural ingredients in my kitchen. Making scrubs at home is a fun, relaxing alternative when your favorite product is out of stock or you want to make your daily shower a little more special.
Thanks to my pink Kitchen Aid mixer whipping these up doesn’t take very long. If you don’t have a stand-up mixer you can use a hand mixer and a deep mixing bowl. I store mine in glasses jars which you can purchase at the Container Store or order on Amazon.com. My recipe isn’t always precise but since I decided to write a blog post about it I started taking notes when a batch came out with just the right consistency. You can always put more or less oils depending on your preference. When I’m out of Olive Oil I like using Grapeseed Oil as an alternative.
- 2 Cups of Brown Sugar
- 2 Cups of White Sugar
- 1 cup of Turbinado Sugar
- 3 tablespoons of Coconut Oil
- 3 tablespoons of Almond Oil
- 3 tablespoons of Olive Oil
- 2 tablespoons of Honey
All of the ingredients are hydrating and great for the skin. I have eczema so this scrub helped alleviate the dryness, my lotion absorbed more quickly, and my skin stayed hydrated longer. I start by pouring all the ingredients into my mixing bowl and mixing it gradually at a low to medium speed. I like my scrub to have a semi-solid texture.
