The first week of May was the week that all of my skincare products were empty. No serum. No eye cream. Nothing in my bathroom. I finished it all with lovely results. I was excited at the idea of not only replenishing my product supply, but using this opportunity to try out some new products that I had been researching since my last trip to Sephora. Currently my skin is combination but slightly more to the dry side. It will stay like that until the hot temperatures of July come to New York City. I celebrated my birthday at the end of April and as you add a candle to your cake you start thinking about anti-aging concerns. All the products listed in this haul report are available on sephora.com and Sephora stores.
1. Caudalie Polyphenol C15 Anti-Wrinkle Serum, $62
I discovered this product through a sneak peak video on Birchbox.com. I don’t have any deep visible wrinkles and I would like to keep it that way. This new product is designed to prevent aging and maintain the integrity of the skin. If you have a few lines already it will help to soften the appearance of them while preventing new ones from forming. Grape-polyphenols and Vitamin C work together to fight free radical damage and lines. The polyphenol complex is able to fight off the free radicals that are responsible for eighty percent of aging. That’s a real insurance policy for your skin. I am very familiar with the genius of Caudalie’s products because I learned from the founders themselves, Mathilide and Bertrand. Caudalie harnesses the powerful anti-oxidants found in Grapes and creates products that are preservative free, gentle on all skin types, and clinically proven to provide long term, consistent results.
I used it in the morning and evening under my moisturizer. It smells clean and green, and feels as light as water on the skin. It absorbs very quickly so it works well under makeup in the morning. This serum is formulated for all skin types, it is oil-free, non-comedogenic, and dermatologist tested. I recommend this serum if you are looking for prevention of lines and wrinkles, treatment for fine lines, prefer a natural based product, or have easily irritated skin. I’m looking forward to reporting in June how my skin has improved from using it.
2. Philosophy Eye Hope Eye Cream $50
I have used this product many times since it came out a few years ago . I have always loved using Philosophy products and have always had great results with this brand. I love this product because it addresses multiple concerns. I like to change my eye cream so my eyes don’t get used to the same thing, and I like trying new and advanced ingredients.
I decided to go back to Eye Hope because it does a wonderful job of fading my dark circles and conquering the puffiness that my spring allergies have been causing, It minimizes the appearance of lines (always a plus) and it hydrates. It contains Shea Butter to hydrate, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-3 helps with firming (thank goodness for peptides), and it has Niacinamide to strengthen your skin’s barrier and hydrate. I use it in the morning and at night. All you need is a half a pump to gently tap around the orbital bone.
3. L’occitane Ultra Rich Body Cream, $44
When I was writing this post and started to describe this body cream with twenty-five percent fair trade Shea Butter, many words came to mind. Replenishing. Heavenly. Luxurious. It is my number one favorite body cream and I get so excited every time I bring home a new tub. It has Honey and Sweet Almond to nourish the skin; the whipped texture of the product helps it melt into the skin, leaving you satiny smooth. My skin feels soft all day and it has a very slight fresh scent that won’t clash with any fragrance. It feels like heaven and will keep your skin intensely hydrated for up to twenty-four hours. I recommend this product if you have dry to super skin. I have eczema and it has helped my condition tremendously. It’s also a good option if you self tan because self tanners and body bronzers adhere better on moisturized skin.
Here is the full list of my current routine. I will probably be doing this routine until the first week of July. The weather will factor into any changes I make over the next month and I want to use my treatments for a full thirty days to really see the full benefits and report back to my lovely readers.
