MAC Magnetic Nudes Collection Review

Now that we have reached a short pause in the holiday rush before the New Year’s Eve hustle starts I can get back to blogging and sharing my adventures in beauty. It has been a very long time since I was able to buy a new limited edition MAC collection on the first day it comes out and get all the colors I had on my list. I did check out some of the colors on Nordstroms.com and maccosmetics.com for this collection before visiting my local MAC counter. I immediately knew I had to add these gorgeous colors to my personal collection. The collection consists of five extra dimension shadows, three shades of fluid line cream liner, Opulash Mascara, four new shades of lipstick, five new shades of lip glass, three new shades of blush, three new shades of Skinfinish highlighter, a new eyeshadow brush, and a new cheek brush.

Whenever a new MAC collection comes out my first instinct is to buy every color shadow, every lipstick, and all three shades of the blushes and a Skinfinish or two.  I decided to take a different approach this time because my makeup collection is extensive and I didn’t want to buy colors that may already be similar to what I have or colors I may only wear once or twice. This collection includes unique and opulent shades of luminous golds  reds, chocolate browns, and grays. I purchased two lipsticks, three eyeshadows, and a skin finish powder.  I love the colors in this collection because they are very wearable and can work on all skin tones. Each product has a beautiful luminosity, not too shimmery or glittery.

Here is an overview of my haul:

Eyeshadows:

Sweet Heat (a light shimmery neutral pink)

Amorous Alloy (a deep coppery red)

Silver Dawn (silvery-taupe)

Lipsticks:

Carnal Instinct (a dark red-brown with a frost finish)

Morning Rose (soft neutral pink with a creme sheen finish)

Complexion:

Magnetic Appeal (extra-dimension skin finish/highlighter, warm gold sheen)

In the middle picture above,  I started my look by applying eyeshadow primer and filling in my brows. I applied Silver Dawn on my lid and then blended Amorous Alloy into my crease. I then applied Sweet Heat as my brow highlighter and lightly blended out any harsh edges.  I don’t own many silver shadows because most silver shades are too light and shimmery for my skin tone. Silver Dawn has a slight brown tone so it could be described as a silver-taupe. I applied the skin finish in Magnetic Appeal on my cheeks with a fantail brush in order to give a softer finish to the skin.I was especially excited to try the highlighter because I have been searching for a new highlighter that had a warm undertone and this one is perfect.  It looks so pretty in the compact I almost don’t want to dip my brush in it. I completed my look with Carnal Instinct lipstick.

Magnetic Nudes is my favorite MAC collection of 2013. These neutral colors are warm and can create a soft innocent look or an earthy smokey eye.  This collection is a limited edition release so stop by your local MAC counter as soon as possible.
