Fashion Week in Brooklyn!

I recently attended Fashion Week Brooklyn which showcased Spring 2014 collections from a wide range of designers.  It was an amazing event that brought together designers, musicians, and all the artistic energy that the borough of Brooklyn has to offer.  I walked into a gorgeous space in Industry City on the opening night of the shows that featured a live performance by the Brown Rice Family, massage therapists, delicious food, and brilliant innovative designers setting trends and expanding fashion consciousness. Although all the designers showed brilliant collections, there were two in particular that caught my attention for two reasons. The first reason is that the makeup in these two shows are looks that are perfect for spring. The second reason is that the looks created a perfect contrast to the clothes, creating a portrait of springtime makeup that is modern and elevated.

These gorgeous wedding dresses are the work of Erin Birmingham, an eco-friendly designer based in Brooklyn.  Her bridal collection has a modern femininity that draws upon vintage detailing and fluidity.

The makeup looks on the models were a contrast of bold color against a sea of ivory. These brides wore a classic Cat-eye but with a thicker line accented with warm coral shadows, and bright lips. The headpieces, by Z. Malan Couture, can only be described as the crowning glory of each bride.

After this beautiful collection I was later introduced to the genius of  Dario Mohr and his label, Daft Minerva. The name of his line means “foolish wisdom.”  This collection featured bold sparkly red lips with a structured, military-inspired collection. This proves once again that a classic red lip will always be in style but can also be reinterpreted and become something unexpected. The makeup on the runway for Spring 2014 are easy to integrate into your makeup routine and easy to accomplish.

I added more pictures so you (my beloved readers) could get a sense of the fabulous energy of this event.
